Lawrence, Kansas and the surrounding communities are great places to live. Close enough to the Kansas City metro area but not in a huge city setting. It’s the perfect combination! Lots to do and convenience close by but Lawrence retains some of the smaller town charms that comes with communities of this size. We also benefit greatly from the university being in town, in terms of theatre, arts, music and sports. It’s a great place to live and work!
There’s a lot to do in the Lawrence area. Whether your interests are KU basketball and football games, riding bikes, hanging out at one of our many local parks, water skiing at Clinton Lake, catching a show at Theatre Lawrence, seeing one of the many world-class performers at the Lied Center, or catching some live music downtown, we’ve got it all covered!
We’re also about 30 minutes from the Kansas City metro area and all that offers – including museums, arts and theatre, major music venues, the Kansas City Royals MLB team, the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team, Sporting Kansas City MLS team, shopping and dinner on the Country Club Plaza, and lots lots more!
The Lawrence community has a lot of philanthropic opportunities. Many people are also typical midwesterners in that we’re also focused on our families and what we can do for each other. It’s a great place to live and raise a family!
There are great family-oriented activities on a regular basis. For instance in the summer take the kids downtown to attend the annual Lawrence Busker Fest. While you’re downtown make sure to hit Sylas and Maddy’s Ice Cream Shop, and then cap off the trip downtown with a visit to the Toy Store!
Lawrence loves parades: St Patrick’s Day Parade, Old Fashioned Christmas Parade, Earth Day Parade and KU parades.
